Facing water and nutrient scarcity in European agriculture

European agriculture is challenged by the need to produce more crops with fewer inputs of fertilizers (especially nitrogen and phosphorus) under conditions of reduced or more variable water availability. In this context, the SolACE project (2017-2022) aimed to help European agriculture identify and test potential solutions to face such challenges, both at the crop and agroecosystem levels.

This final SolACE Stakeholder Event:

• shared and stimulated dialogue with various stakeholders about key messages from the project,
• garnered feedback and experiences of multi-actor projects at the European scale
• identified collectively what needs to be achieved beyond the SolACE project, in order to face water and nutrient scarcity in European agriculture

The event featured contributions from a series of SolACE stakeholder workshops related to roots, microbial inoculants, crop modelling and on-farm experimentation.

The hybrid event took place in person at La Tricoterie in Brussels, Beglium as well as via zoom for virtual participants.
